Organized dentistry
Constituent society
A state-level dental society that belongs to the ADA, sits between local component societies and the national body, and sends delegates to the ADA House of Delegates.
A constituent society is a state dental society within the ADA. The ADA says members of its House of Delegates are chosen by the 53 constituent societies, the five federal dental services and the American Student Dental Association. The count of 53 includes more than the 50 states.
The state group sits in the middle of the tripartite structure. Local component dental societies belong to it, and it belongs to the national American Dental Association. In Missouri, the Missouri Dental Association is the state society.
The constituent society sends delegates to the House of Delegates. This entry gives a general definition only.
