# Dental advisory board

A dental advisory board is a group of dentists that a company or organization asks for input on its products, plans or clinical needs.

A dental advisory board is a panel of dentists who give feedback to a company or group. The board may review new products, talk about clinical needs or react to plans. Terms differ from one board to the next.

Ties to a company can change how an audience sees a person's advice. The Federal Trade Commission tells people to disclose when they have any financial, employment, personal, or family relationship with a brand.

Audiences, readers and patients should be told about any such tie. A board seat differs from a [key opinion leader](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/key-opinion-leader) role and from a [brand ambassador](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/brand-ambassador) role, though people sometimes hold more than one.
