# Dental team

The people who work together in a dental practice to care for patients and run the office, including dentists, hygienists, assistants, front office staff and managers.

The dental team is everyone who works together to care for patients and run the office. It includes dentists, [dental hygienists](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/dental-hygienist), [dental assistants](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/dental-assistant), front office staff and managers.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that dental assistants work under the supervision of dentists and work closely with dental hygienists in their day-to-day activities. Each role has duties and legal limits that depend on the state, which is known as [scope of practice](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/scope-of-practice).
