# Pierre Fauchard Academy

The Pierre Fauchard Academy is an international honor organization for dentists, where fellowship is by nomination and recognizes past accomplishment in dentistry.

The Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA) is an honorary dental service organization founded in 1936. Its site says fellowship is by nomination. It is designed to honor past accomplishments in dentistry and to encourage future productivity.

Membership is not a license or a specialty board. The group also differs from the [American College of Dentists](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/american-college-of-dentists) and the [International College of Dentists](https://joncopeland.multisites.ai/glossary/international-college-of-dentists), which are separate honor societies.
