Leadership and communication

Dental leadership

Guiding a dental team or a dental organization, in a single practice, a group or a professional body, by influencing people and setting direction toward shared goals.

Dental leadership is leadership within dentistry. A study of leadership and managerial skills in dentistry says that, based on its etymology, leadership in the field means the ability to influence or change the behaviors of one or more persons. The authors add that dental leaders bring people together, help them voice needs and goals, and guide by example.

Leaders in dentistry include owner dentists, managers, team leads and volunteers in organized dentistry. The role covers clinical standards, people, money and culture, which relates to clinical leadership.

It builds on general leadership ideas. This entry is a general definition and does not describe any person's methods.
