Compliance and risk

Dental malpractice insurance

Dental malpractice insurance is professional liability insurance that helps pay for claims that a dentist's care was negligent, including legal defense costs.

Dental malpractice insurance covers claims about the care a dentist gives. A 2025 paper notes that dentistry is one of the branches most frequently involved in claims for damages from malpractice, especially in sectors that are costly and of significant aesthetic value.

Policy terms differ in limits and in what they cover. Ask your insurance adviser what each term means for you.

Malpractice cover does not cover all risks, such as employee claims or data loss. See risk management. Choosing coverage is a financial decision, so talk to a licensed insurance adviser.
