Dental recruiting

The process of searching for and hiring dentists and team members, from writing job posts and holding interviews to making offers and starting the new person's first weeks.

Dental recruiting means searching for and hiring people to join a practice. A 2021 ADA News report on an ADA Health Policy Institute poll found 35.8% of owner dentists were recruiting dental assistants, 28.8% were seeking dental hygienists, 26.5% were looking to hire administrative staff and 13.1% were in search of associate dentists.

Steps may include a job description, job postings, interviews, offers and onboarding. Recruiting is one part of dental staffing and responds to the wider workforce shortage.

Hiring must follow anti-discrimination and wage laws. The poll is from 2021, so current conditions may differ. This entry is a general definition and describes no recruiting service.
