Practice management software

Practice management software is the main office program that handles scheduling, billing, charting, claims and reports for a dental practice.

ADA News says dental practice management software streamlines administrative tasks, appointment scheduling, billing and patient communication, according to the experts it quotes.

Most systems also hold the patient chart, treatment plans and insurance data, and many link to imaging programs. Some run on an office server. Others run in the cloud. See cloud-based dental software.

Switching systems takes time. Data must move over, staff need training, and links to other tools must still work. Look at export options, support and security terms before you sign. The system holds protected health information, so HIPAA rules apply.
