Web accessibility

Web accessibility means designing and building websites, tools and pages so that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate and use them.

The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative says web accessibility means that websites, tools, and technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them.

ADA.gov guidance says an inaccessible website can exclude people just as much as steps at an entrance to a physical location. The guidance describes how state and local governments and businesses open to the public can make websites accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Ask an attorney or an accessibility specialist how the law and these guides apply to your site.
