Compliance and risk

OSHA

OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U.S. agency that sets and enforces workplace safety rules, including rules for dental offices.

OSHA says its mission is to ensure America's workers have safe and healthful working conditions free from unlawful retaliation.

Dental offices that employ workers must follow OSHA rules. One that applies to dental work is the bloodborne pathogens standard.

Check osha.gov, or your state's workplace safety agency, for the rules that apply to your office. Owners often keep written safety plans and train staff on them. A compliance checklist can help track the work. See compliance checklist for a way to track the work.
