Credentials and education

Dental speaker

A dental speaker is a dentist or other professional who gives lectures or workshops on clinical, practice or team topics at meetings, study clubs and conferences.

Dental speakers teach at society meetings, study clubs, company events and large conferences. Topics range from clinical technique to team leadership and practice business.

The federal Office of Inspector General defines company speaker programs as events where a health care professional makes a speech or presentation to other professionals about a product or disease state on behalf of a company. Speaker programs paid by a company bring fraud and abuse risks and need careful rules.

A speaker who shows a company product should disclose any tie to that company. Many meetings also ask the speaker to meet the host's continuing education rules. Planners often hire through a speakers bureau or direct contact.
