Practice management
Practice analytics
Practice analytics are the reports and software tools that turn practice data into trends, such as production by provider or new patients by referral source, that an owner can review.
Practice analytics start with data the office already records in its management software. The ADA notes that practice management software often includes KPI tracking as a feature. Analytics tools then show those numbers over time, by provider or by source. The ADA advises starting with a limited number of measures and reassessing them at least quarterly, which keeps reports readable. Good analytics depend on clean entry: procedure codes, referral sources and adjustments must be recorded the same way every time. Results should feed a decision, such as a change to recall or the schedule template.
