Practice management
Dental practice management
Dental practice management is the business side of running a dental office: directing the team, handling money, building the schedule, running systems and caring for patients so clinical work can happen.
Dental practice management covers the work that surrounds clinical care. It includes directing the team, tracking production and collections, keeping the schedule full, running billing and recall, and answering patient questions. The ADA sorts its practice management resources by topic, including finances, risk management, patients and office design. It also states that keeping loyal patients and attracting new ones takes effort from the entire dental team. In a small office one owner and one office manager may cover most of these tasks. In a larger group the tasks are split across several roles. The titles differ, but the tasks are the same. A dental practice consultant is one source of outside help with this work.
