Credentials and education
MAGD
MAGD stands for Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, the letters used by a dentist who has earned the AGD Mastership award.
MAGD means Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. It marks a dentist who has completed the Mastership (AGD) requirements.
The AGD says the award needs at least 1,100 hours of approved CE as an AGD member. At least 400 of those hours must be hands-on participation hours in specific disciplines.
The letters stand for a body of continuing education. They do not mean a specialty license. A dentist usually earns FAGD first, because the first 500 hours of Mastership are the Fellowship hours. Verify any credential on the AGD site, and follow your state's advertising rules when you show letters after a name.
