Mastership (AGD)

Mastership (AGD) is a higher Academy of General Dentistry award that requires at least 1,100 hours of approved continuing education, including at least 400 hands-on participation hours.

The AGD Mastership is the second major AGD award. The AGD says a member must complete at least 1,100 hours of approved CE as an AGD member. That count includes the first 500 hours used for the Fellowship (AGD).

Of the 1,100 hours, at least 400 hours must come from participation courses in specific disciplines, and at least 600 hours must meet minimum hour rules in specific disciplines. The AGD also announced a sleep medicine requirement for those who work toward Mastership from 2029.

A person who earns the award may use the letters MAGD. The Academy of General Dentistry posts the current rules, which can change.
