Fellowship (AGD)

Fellowship (AGD) is an Academy of General Dentistry award earned by completing 500 approved continuing education hours, passing the Fellowship Exam and meeting membership rules.

The AGD Fellowship is an award, not a degree or a specialty. The AGD lists these steps: active AGD membership for three continuous years, completion of 500 hours of FAGD-approved CE credits with at least 350 hours earned in live course attendance, a passing score on the Fellowship Exam, and an approved application.

A person who earns it may use the letters FAGD. The Academy of General Dentistry updates its rules from time to time. In 2026 it changed how many student-member hours count.

Fellowship is also the first step toward Mastership (AGD), because the first 500 hours count toward that higher award. Read the current AGD pages before you plan your hours.
